In the course of the evolution of the conventional energy grids to intelligent, decentralized energy supply networks (Smart Grids), far-reaching analogies to communication nets are established, e.g., in the area of the net and user management or the dynamic, demand-oriented energy flow control.
With the start of the new business division Smart Energy in the beginning of 2009 and its operationalization in the GIP BrainMission GmbH, the development of innovative solutions for this promising area commenced. Current projects deal with concepts for the intelligent energy supply, the communication infrastructure for the Smart metering as well as with the planning, the construction and the accounting of electric mobility nets.
By the diversification of pure telco solutions to integrated utility solutions, GIP considers the medium to long-term market movement wherein the suppliers of communication and energy supply services will co-operate in a close network and grow together. The Future Internet and the Energy Internet form together the ideal base for the automation of integrated business processes and for the production of integrated services with Xyna Factory.
