Relocation into the new offices in the Hechtsheimer Straße
With an innovative office based on the “Open Space” concept and far-reaching possibilities for the increase of staff, the “GIP Plant” confirms GIP’s successful course during the last years and enables a continuation of the growth.

The most successful business year in the history of GIP
The business year 2010 was the most successful in the history of GIP. Turnover and profit as well as the number of the employees and projects have clearly risen in comparison to the year before.
New projects with existing customers develop relationships
Different new projects could be won by the very good relations with existing customers in central OSS areas. The necessary new employees took the premises in the Heinrich-von-Brentano-Str. to its limits.

New business division „Smart Grid“
With the foundation of the new business division “Smart Grid” for the development of intelligent solutions in the areas of Smart Grid, Smart Metering and electric mobility, GIP diversifies the portfolio which was up to now focused on telecommunications. In this area GIP profits from the extensive knowledge and longtime experience, based on the analogies between telecommunication networks and energy networks of the future. The market segment offers an immense potential of growth. With the funding project BMWi StroPa a first project starts in the middle of 2009.
Commercial success
The solid course of GIP which is characterized by organic growth pays off: during the last 5 years the turnover could be increased by about 25% per year. GIP is recommended as a reliable, future-oriented employer for high-tech jobs in the Rhine-Main-region.

Cable market entry
Thanks to the generic approach of the Xyna Factory, the product could be adjusted fast and very successful to the demands of an HFC access net. A first reference customer was won with Kabel Baden-Württemberg (Kabel BW). The Triple Play services of Kabel BW will be provisioned by a Xyna Factory in the future.
Growth and relocation
The strong growth in turnover and employees of the last years demands the relocation to the premises in the Heinrich-von-Brentano-Straße. There the Xyna NGN lab for the development of intelligent solutions in the field of Smart Provisioning is expanded.

Start of the Xyna Factory
In 2005 the product development of the Xyna Factory starts. Know-how, methods and technologies from 10 years of experience in the telecommunication market are poured systematically in the automation platform. Deutsche Telekom and Arcor (today Vodafone) become reference customers of Xyna in the first year of the product launch.

Concentration on telecommunications
From 2004 the business intelligence area is systematically reduced in favor of the area of telecommunications. A concentration on the development of intelligent solutions for the automation of technical commercial processes occurs, in particular in IP-based network infrastructures of the next generation (Next generation Networks).
Automation solutions for the telecommunication industry
The area of business intelligence runs very successful, but is marked by a strong competition and low margins; in contrast the area of telecommunications develops immensely and becomes the central growth driver in the company. The telecommunication industry impends a change with the IP-based Next Generation Network – and from the begging GIP is present in central projects.
Business Intelligence
The first half of the new millennium is characterized by the area of Business Intelligence. At famous international companies and concerns the GIP operates in numerous projects in the following areas: OLAP-analyses, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining and predictive analyses.

GIP becomes a private corporation
In 1997 the “Gesellschaft für Industriephysik” (Association for industrial physics) is transformed into a private corporation. Shareholders are owners, employees and board members – everybody with a close company relationship. Till this day this structure changed only a little – neither institutional investors nor risk corporations are involved in the GIP AG. This independence enables to work on new potentials fast and agile.
Focus on software development and consulting
Intensification of research and development in the field of Business Intelligence (BI) – for telecommunications as well as for companies of other areas, in particular automotives and industrial manufacturing. Aim was the optimization of complex analytic procedures for Data and Web Mining. Many methods were integrated later into the Xyna Factory.
Focus on software and consulting
With the appearance of the Internet from the middle of the 90s and the growing relevance of information technology in companies the entrance occurs in the fields of software development and consulting. In 1996 the first software project starts with Mannesmann Arcor (today Vodafone).

Industrial physics
Objective of the emerging company is the applied industrial research and the transfer of physical models and methods on practice. Main focus of the activities in the first years are simulations and analyses of complex technical systems and industrial production processes, e.g., in the area of Just-in-Time-manufacturing.
Foundation of the “Gesellschaft für Industriephysik” (Association for industrial physics)
The enterprise is founded as „GIP Gesellschaft für Industriephysik mbH“ (Association for industrial physics) as a spin-off from the institute of physics of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz.
