ANGA Cable 2011

Successful appearance of Xyna at the ANGA Cable in 2011 :: IPv6-capable OSS-solution for cable net operators

With more than 420 exhibitors from 34 countries and more than 16,500 visitors, the ANGA Cable 2011 could assert again to be the leading trade fair for cable, broadband and satellite in Europe.

Also for GIP the fair was extremely successful. Plenty of conversations with existing and potential customers and partners took place at GIP’s booth. With the Xyna Factory 4.0 and the new Xyna Topology Modeller, GIP presented an IPv6-capable, comprehensive OSS-solution for cable net operators with a main focus on Service and Device Provisioning.

ANGA Cable 2011

In general, the current upward trend in the whole cable branch could be noticed clearly. Thomas Braun, president of the ANGA, about the current developments of the branch: „The German broadband cable is the infrastructure of the future. About 24 million German households can be supplied with Internet via broadband cable. Therefore cable is the only alternative and at the same time technically superior infrastructure to the telephone network“. With the Xyna Factory, cable providers are able to manage this infrastructure efficiently.

Based upon the Xyna Factory, technical processes, e.g., for the configuration of IP-Phones or Set-Top-Boxes behind a cable modem or a home gateway, can be modeled graphically and be automated in an efficient workflow engine with comprehensive protocol support. Successful methods from the flexible process manufacturing are used for the workflow control and process optimization.

The future of the Internet makes with Smart Home, Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) and flexible business clients’ products the highest demands on the OSS-systems of the cable net operators. Beside new technologies like IPv6, DHCPv6, DOCSIS 3.0, TR-069 and SIP, Service and Device Provisioning need to be adapted to new products and efficient production concepts.

With Xyna, cable net operators are enabled to react fast and agile to new technology and market standards. Overlay structures, IP services and interfaces are developed graphically and can be automated afterwards immediately.

Since 2008, Xyna is in use as central OSS-system at Kabel BW. The quality and efficiency of the NGN connections provisioned with Xyna convinces over and over again in tests and comparisons – e.g. recently in the connect-NGN-Test*: “with outstanding data rates with quick package lead time, high quality of the phone connections and quick dial-up, Kabel BW could score in all categories.”
