The GIP Research Institute is the research lab and workshop for software-based innovations of GIP. The Institute examines current and future IT, telecommunications, and system analysis trends for potential and new application areas.

Trends considered to be promising trigger independent research and development activities. The objective is to enable GIP to market the knowledge and developed technologies later on. For example, large parts of the innovative service platform Xyna Service Factory originated in the GIP Research Institute.
Current Research Areas
Currently, the research focuses on the following subjects:
Future internet & Next Generation Network - future of communication
Vertical OSS / BSS integration in telecommunications and large enterprise networks
Automatic network configuration and integrated network management
System modeling (system dynamics), system simulation, and prediction
Dynamics of distributed and complex systems, open-loop and closed-loop system control
Moreover, the GIP Research Institute offers consulting services on topics such as general IT strategy, innovation management, market research, and technolgy studies.
Research Labs
The GIP Research Institute has various labs in which concepts and ideas are developed, tested for concrete applicability and feasibility, and further improved.
