gelb6 Xyna supports WebLogic J2EE in the future

Mainz, July 21, 2008

Oracle & BEA SystemsThe acquisition of the Enterprise Application Infrastructure provider BEA Systems by Oracle has its first consequences for the product strategy in the future.

A central modification is the choice of the WebLogic Server as a strategic J2EE platform. The established Oracle Workflow Eninge “BPEL Process Manager” will be integrated in the WebLogic Server and with that a optimal infrastructure will be created.

Even if these decisions will have long-time consequences - support and advancement of the Oracle products will keep up for the next 10 years - the “red edition” of the Xyna Service Factory will focus on the WebLogic Application Server as an infrastructure platform up from version 2.0 (2009).

The infrastructure platform “red edition” for the Xyna Service Factory 2.0 will consist of the following central Oracle products of the Xyna supported basis:

  • Oracle database
  • Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)
  • New: Oracle WebLogic J2EE Application Server
  • Oracle BPEL Process Manager

The decision was communicated in a management bulletin to the strategic Xyna customers last week. Therein Dr. Alexander Ebbes, chief architect of the Xyna Service Factory, is satisfied with the decision from Oracle out of the technological prospect.
With the decision to focus on the future strategic products the GIP offers its customers a high degree of planning reliability and a optimal coverage of investment in the future

GIP 2nd Xyna Conference of GIP Research Institute Ends with Great Success

Mainz, November 23, 2007

2. Xyna-KonferenzThe 2nd Xyna Conference of the GIP Research Institute was an all-out success. This years topic “Telecommunications 3.0” attracted the keen interest of about 100 customers, partners, and guests of GIP from the telecommunications industry.

The various lectures held during the days covered the subjects “Future Internet”, “Web 2.0 / Web 3.0”, and “Telecommunications of the Future”.

Dr. Bernd Reifenhäuser, Director of the GIP Research Institute, outlined the fractal telecommunications factory as starting point for addressing the challenges of future Next Generation Networks and the complex services involved. The further development of the Xyna Service Factory will incorporate this approach in the architecture in upcoming product versions.

Jürgen Salzmann, Business Development Manager at Cisco, presented the concept of network abstraction as a component of future telco factories. Using a virtualization and abstraction layer between the network and service applications (such as the Xyna Service Factory), complexity can be reduced considerably, and the flexibility in connection with the introduction of new services can be increased substantially.

Martin Jeske, Business Development Manager at Sun Microsystems, presented the “Wonderland, Inc.” project of the Sun Laboratories with impressive images and video sequences. Wonderland is an experimental 3D / Web 2.0 world that demonstrates collaborative scenarios of the corporate communication of tomorrow.

Gorsel Baksi, Alliance Manager at Oracle, disclosed the future strategy in the telecommunications industry. Apart from scenarios and roadmaps exclusively presented at this level of detail at the Xyna Conference, he presented an elaborated business case that demonstrated the perfect interaction between service creation, billing, and provisioning.

Finally, Berthold Butscher, Deputy of the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS) presented the new “Open SOA Telco Playground”. This functional demonstration environment shows the trend-setting integration of Internet-based Web 2.0 services and a telco IMS environment as well as “hybrid” services based on these, which contributed a number of concrete application scenarios to the subject of the “Future Internet” conference.

The subsequent get-together at the Hyatt m-Bar provided all participants with a fine opportunity to socialize and engage in intensive, active exchange.
